Tour de Suisse stage - Gotthard Pass
The classic stage is Friday 21, which will once again touch Ticino with almost 220 km and over 4000 meters of elevation, over the Lukmanier Pass and with a spectacular arrival on the Gotthard Pass through the Tremola: the queen of the Alpine routes. The road is characterized by long paved stretches that will make the test even more difficult. From Airolo, the historic pass road winds its way through narrow couloirs towards the Gotthard, one of the most beautiful and adventurous roads for cycling enthusiasts. Built at the beginning of the 19th century and rebuilt between 1937 and 1941 with a coating of hundreds of thousands of granite nuts, it climbs between 24 hairpin bends from Airolo to the 2106 m a.s.l. of the Gotthard Pass.
The Gotthard massif is fascinating at all times of the year and offers a wide range of leisure activities. Don't miss a visit to the National Museum and the Sasso San Gottardo; in Airolo, the Forte Airolo and the Gottardo demonstration dairy: an unforgettable experience for young and old, families, schools and groups.
HERE you will find the map with the route for the 7th stage: Unterterzen-Passo San Gottardo (217 km).
The tour will end on Sunday 23 June with its last stage in Ulrichen.
