D.O.P. honey
The quality of Varese's honey is well known. It is no accident that this precious, tasty product, typical of a land with a rich environmental quality, is protected by the "Varese Honey Quality Consortium", who safeguard both where it is produced and where it is sold. There are three types of protected honey, namely:
Millefiori honey, which has a pleasant flavour that varies according to the area of production, and a strong aroma. It is obtained from the pollen of various flowers, and from the honeydew of several plants. Excellent for baking and breakfast.
Acacia honey, slightly amber in colour, with a delicate aroma and very sweet flavour. Excellent accompaniment with mature sheep cheese and fresh, seasonal fruit.
Chestnut honey, strong aroma, slightly bitter, with a dark colour that tends to black. Ideal accompaniment with mature goat and mixed goat/cow cheeses.
